University professorship for "Business Administration, in particular Marketing and Sustainability" (grade W 3 LBesO W)

The following position is available at the University of Duisburg-Essen in the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics from 1 March 2026:

We are looking for a person to conduct research on marketing issues with a particular focus on sustainability aspects. In this field of research, we attach great importance to theoretically sound and empirically substantive analyses. From a methodological point of view, a focus on e.g. the collection and analysis of primary data, experimental research on customer behaviour or the combination of economic and social science approaches is desirable. In terms of content, a focus in the areas of marketing and health, marketing and climate neutrality or customer research in B2B markets is desirable, for example.

The professorship also has an integrative significance for economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen as a whole. Accordingly, cooperation with other specialist groups within the faculty, e.g. in the "CINCH Research Centre for Health Economics" or in the "House of Energy, Climate and Finance" is desired, as is cooperation with the Mercator School of Management, the Faculty of Social Sciences or the Department of Information Systems at the Faculty of Computer Science.

Courses are expected to be offered in the field of marketing in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in economics. Teaching in the core area of the Bachelor's programme and in the teacher training programmes is also expected. Furthermore, the post holder should be prepared to offer individual courses in English.

Publications in high-ranking, peer-reviewed journals are expected as well as experience appropriate to the advertised position in the implementation of self-acquired, competitive third-party funded projects, preferably DFG-funded projects.

The University of Duisburg-Essen attaches particular importance to the quality of teaching. Didactic ideas on teaching - also taking into account the profile of the University of Duisburg-Essen - must be presented.

The recruitment requirements are based on § 36 of the NRW Higher Education Act (Hochschulgesetz NRW).

The University of Duisburg-Essen aims to promote the diversity of its members(https://www.uni-due.de/diversity/). It endeavours to increase the proportion of women among its academic staff and therefore strongly encourages relevantly qualified women to apply. Women with equal qualifications will be given preferential consideration in accordance with the State Equal Opportunities Act. Applications from suitable severely disabled persons and persons of equal status within the meaning of § 2 Abs. 3 SGB IX are welcome.

Applications with the usual documents (CV with details of academic and professional career, list of academic publications, copies of certificates, presentation of own research profile and the resulting prospects at the University of Duisburg-Essen, teaching and learning concept taking into account the profile of the University of Duisburg-Essen, details of previous teaching activities, participation in academic self-administration and third-party funds raised) should be submitted until 11th May 2025 with the subject "Application Marketing" in digital form as a PDF file to the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Prof. Dr. Erwin Amann, at dekanat (at) wiwi-essen.uni-due.de.
